Despite not being a big fan of football, I could not help but notice last night as I did the dishes that it was the Saint's first home game since Katrina struck New Orleans. I was a bit confused at first though, since the sound that I was hearing coming from the tube not football, but GREEN DAY!! *boo!!* Add to fact that my parents were sitting around in the living room listening to that and you got a very confused little Brownie. After watching a bit of them playing, and hearing my parents talk, I figured out that it was a pre-show kind of thing going on, which would explain why my parents were even listening/tolerating the sound of Green Day. Last night was a night of confusion, head scratching, and revelations, to say the least. Not only was Green Day playing, but U2's guitarist, The Edge, was playing along with them, with the rest of U2 coming on after the end of Wake Me Up When September Ends.
Yes. Green Day and U2 performed on the same stage. HOLY {insert explicative of choice here}!!!!!
As much as I hate to judge people, the dudes that make up Green Day just seemed like a bunch of obnoxious and sadistic pricks that would say that New Orleans had it coming and that annoys people by going "America sucks, Bush Administration sucks! Blah Blah Blah!!!". I mean their last album was entitled American Idiot for crying out loud!!!! The way I see it, if you hate your country and/or government so much, do one of two things: do something to change the country or leave. Just don't sit on your butt and whine about it. So needless to say that I was extremely surprised to see that they were one of the opening acts for the game. U2 doesn't surprise me because they're the ones who's trying to save the world, for lack of a better phrase, through their fame and fortune and whatnot, which is great. We need more bands like that, but point is, seeing Green Day do something such that's not America/Bush bashing is a nice breath of fresh air. From what I interpreted from the two bands performance, they were trying to send the "Lost but not forgotten" message to New Orleans, maybe even trying to lighten up the spirits of a city that's mostly ruins now, a modern day Atlantis.
So yeah, I blogged, 1st one in over a month. Woohoo!! And I apologize for not having commented, not having enough time to put up icons, or for this blog not being very coherent....XD But before I go.....WEEE!!!!
